The project CCAV / ART intends to address the complexity of the new status and the visual art of the last decades from a three-pronged approach: 1) the critical study of artistic practices emerging from the new maps of the global, 2) the approach of new theoretical concepts derived from these practices, and 3) the approach of a set of innovative working methods designed to analyze the relevance of the new art history, by establishing a critical position regarding what in the anglo academic world is usually called World Art History.

Objectives

The general objectives will be organized through the development of the following strategies:

1. Framing the proposal in a cultural history and identity as a way to expand the territory of art to the field of culture. This cultural history will transit constantly between Art History and Visual and Cultural Studies.

2. Replacing a linear story, stylistic and teleological (dominated by the concepts of break, return, originality, appropriation authorship / death of the author, by focusing instead on internationalism, nationalism, diaspora, multiculturalism, globalization, local and interculturality, as these concepts seem to respond to a common denominator: their proximity to the word culture beyond art, and its commitment to identity beyond language.

3. Conduct field work to collect the artistic practices of several creators (both metropolitan and cosmopolitan environments, and peripheral and / or diasporic). That is, a sampling of creative projects made ​​by artists of the new global mapping -Latin American, African, Asian, American, European and Spanish- artists on the following sections:

Nationalism
Mlticulturalism
New internationalism
Postcolonial discourse
The notion of living on the edges
Artist diasporic situation in metropolises
Peripheral and central
Glocalism
New ethnicities in the world postnational
IIntercultural or shared universality

4. Work on the design of a new model of interdisciplinary discourse that, from the methodological point of view, unify art historians, film theorists, cultural geographers, anthropologists, sociologists, philosophers and other scholars to focus their collective interest in the global art.
